Here are some quick tips to help your shopping experience:

Bring a laundry basket, with holes, to tote your items around while shopping. The ones with wheels work best.
Bring a fanny pack, it is less cumbersome than a large purse.
Allow yourself plenty of time to go through all the racks - there is plenty for everyone.

How much do I make from the sale of my items?
Contributors earn 2/3 of the selling price of the item.
What is the best way to price my items?
A good rule of thumb is to ask about a 1/3 of what you paid for it, if it is in immaculate condition and a name brand you can price it a little more. We are not a garage sale, so don't sell yourself short by asking garage sale prices. However, we are not a major department store, so don't price yourself out of a sale.
Why do you only accept metal hangers, my baby clothes will not fit?
Plastic hangers tend to break after being shifted on the racks, and plastic coated do not move at all on the racks. If you would unsnap the infant's garment and put the hanger through the bottom, you will have no problem hanging your item. Please don't bend the hangers. Your local cleaners are a good place to find wire hangers. Kid's Market and Mom will have metal hangers and safety pins for sale at early receiving and regular receiving.
What does a priority number mean, and why do I need one?
As contributors drop off their items and sign their contract, a priority shopping number will be issued. These priority numbers allow those contributors to shop early during the Preview Sale days. See the Kid's Market calendar for the specific dates and times. This helps in the control of crowds on Preview day for our contributors.
Why can I not bring my children on Preview day?
Several reasons, one of which is a safety issue. We can only allow so many people in the store at one time. If we started counting children it would limit the number of contributors that could shop. It also makes for a better shopping experience.
Kid's Market and Mom define Children as any child under the age of18. No children will be allowed at preview sale, even if they obtain a ticket to get in. The child will be stopped at the door by security. No children on these days only.
Why can I not bring strollers on the first day open to public?
We can not control how many people show up on the first day to the public, therefore, strollers take up a lot of room in the aisle, and become shopping carts. This is the only day that we enforce this rule.
Why can I not bring diaper bags and large purses?
Again, for protection of the merchandise and it is a lot more pleasurable to shop without a heavy purse or diaper bag.
How can I get on the mailing list to become a contributor?
Simply select the Sign Me Up link on the left of the home page and follow the directions.
How can I work the sale?
You must have participated as a contributor at least one sale in order to work. Please email Kid's Market at workers@kidsmarketandmom.com to request to be a worker.
How do I package shoes?
You can package shoes in large 1 gallon ziplock bags. You then should put a piece of masking tape on each shoe with your code number. In the bag you put your barcode tag with the description of the shoes.
Why can I only bring 3 pairs of shoes?
Due to the number of contributors, we can only accept 3 of your best pair.
Why can I not bring stuffed animals?
Stuffed animals come in all shapes and sizes, from the little tiny ones to the ones "I won this at the fair" size HUGE. They tend to come in dirty and take up way to much space. Lastly, they just don't sell.
Why can I not size my garments with S,M,L, XL?
This gets very confusing when we are trying to organize garments on the racks. If you have the correct size, then it will be put in the right size. Otherwise it becomes a guessing game as to which size category it needs to go in. The exception is Maternity and Juniors who may use S, M, L, XL, etc in sizing.
What is the purpose of tape with my Contributor ID inside my garment?
This is purely for your protection in case of a lost tag. It helps us identify who the item belongs to, and you will not be out that money. It is also important for every other item that you bring.
How do I hang pants on a hanger?
Safety pin the waistband of the pants or shorts to the top of the hanger, make it to where they will not slide down. Customers like to look at the knees, the seat, and the whole look, if they are hung this way, they see it all of it without removing them from the hanger.
Our favorite way to hang pants that have belt loops is to run the hanger through the back belt loops and then use a safety pin to secure it to the hanger. This really helps the pants not to slide off the hanger.
How do I hang sets?
Hang the shirt on the hanger, and the shorts or pants on the back. Don't hang them under the shirt where customers can't see without it without taking the shirt off.
How do I package my bedding?
The absolute best way is in the package it came in. If you have more than one piece, DO NOT make a tag for each piece. For example, if you have 5 pieces, make the bumper pads 1of 5, comforter 2of 5 etc. Just make one tag that explains what you have, and how many pieces. Be very descriptive.

Bedding must be child appropriate. All other bedding will not be put on the floor to sell. Adult bedding will not be accepted.
How do I package toys with many parts?
VERY SECURELY!!! The more secure the better. You can put small parts in ziplock bags, and secure them with clear packing tape, then attach the bag to the main part. (i.e. dollhouse furniture, kitchen supplies etc..)
How do I package puzzles?
The best way is to wrap Saran wrap around the puzzle, and then secure it with clear packing tape. Just make sure your tag is on the outside and accessible.
Puzzles and games that are in boxes need to have every piece. Please be considerate of others. Do not try to sell items that are incomplete. Please seal the box with clear packing tape.
Do I need to include batteries?
All items that require batteries need to have them so that the buyer knows the item works.
What is the benefit of the barcodes?
To make Kid's Market and Mom the most efficient experience for everyone. It is a better way to keep up with all items sold, and has proven to make checkout quicker and simpler for the buyers. Plus we are now able to get checks to our contributors faster and more accurately.
Can I get a Contributor ID for every member of my family?
We have made it a policy not to issue more than one Contirbutor ID per family. If you already have more than one, consider yourself fortunate. We were starting to run into problems with young children getting numbers, and then showing up for Preview sale. This then conflicted with the policy of No Children at Preview sale.
How do I package books?
Sets of books can be placed in 1 gallon or 2 gallon Ziplok type bags. Or you can use plastic cling wrap around the set of books and then use clear packing tape to apply tag. When selling book sets, try to group by reading level.
Individual books do not have to be placed in bags. However, please DO NOT tape the Kid's Market and Mom tag to the outside of the book. It must be removed at checkout.
What is considered "Juniors" by Kid's Market and Mom?
Junior sizes run from 0 to 13 in odd increments. These sizes are correct. Sizes that are even are Misses. We want clothes for this section to reflect what our juniors are wearing today. Ladies clothes are not accepted for our sale and will not be put out on the floor.
You may use S M L XL as sizes on your junior clothes but not girls.
When is the best time to bring clothes to receiving?
Monday and Tuesday are the best time to come. The first 3 hours on Saturday receiving are very busy. The lines move quicly but be prepared to stay for a little while. However, after the initial rush is gone it is very stady but never crowded. People seem to be afraid of Saturday, but it's actually a great time to come. Wednesday afternoon is the most hectic.
Which items are NOT accepted for the Fall Sale?
Bathing suits, bathing suit covers, pool toys, beach toys, life jackets, sundresses, sun suits, knit short sets, T-shirts orany light summer type fabrics.
We will accept nice dress shorts and jean shorts for the Fall Sale.
Which items are NOT accepted for the Spring Sale?
Coats, sweathers, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, sweatsuits, any winter type fabrics like wook, corduroy, velvet, etc..
We will accept light weight long sleeved shirts, jeans, and long pants. Lightweight jackets and wind suits are also accepted.
Rule of Thumb: Bring only items that are seasonally appropirate. When in doubt leave it out. If you wouldn't purchase it, no one else will either. Quality is very important to Kid's Market and Mom.
What sizes should clothes be bundled in for receiving?
0-3 months, 3 months, 3-6 months, 6 months, 6-9 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, 24 months, 2t, 3t, 4 and 4t, 5, 6, 6x, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20
Pants by waist size and length for boys and junior girls 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13
What happens to the items left at the end of the sale?
During the sale we take names of families in need and groups that we know are not going to resale items for profit. No receipts are given. It is the policy of Kid's Market and Mom to not receive any tax credit for clothes donated to people in need. We have helped groups such as PATH, Sav A Life, Bread and Roses, Safe House, Showers of Blessings, DHR, Foster families and many, many families in need.
All contributors must mark each item that should be donated if not sold, with a yellow highlighted slash across each tag. This will help expedite the creation of the charity boxes. Don't worry, the Yellow Highlighter will not affect the barcode. Please, only use YELLOW Highlighter.
Will baby-sitting be available during the sale?
No. Baby-sitting is not available and we ask that you keep your children close to you at all times for their safety.
What if I miss pick-up or pay-day?
Unfortunately, due to the time frame at the end of the sale, your remaining, unsold items will be donated to charity and your pay check (if any is due) will be mailed to the address on file the day after pick-up/pay-day. DO NOT MISS PICK-UP DAY IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR ITEMS DONATED!
Can a friend pick up my items and my check?
Yes and No. The items can be picked up by a friend with a signed written note from you with your contributor ID on the note. We will be asking for identification from all people entering the building during Pickup and Payday. However, your check will have to be mailed to you if you cannot pick it up in person.
Why no straight pins?
They are very dangerous. We need to protect the safety of our shoppers and our volunteers. No clothes pins either. They do not stay on and take up too much room on the rack.
What does DO NOT ALTER TAGS mean?
The bar codes work just like a department store. Please use the correct bar code price that you want your item to sell at. Once your tag is ready to go on your item and you change your mind you must make another tag for that items. We will not accept tags that have been altered. Do not write on top of the barcode as this will cause it not to scan correctly.
Can I bring items to receiving more than once?
Yes. You only need to sign your agreement once though.
What is the Agreement I'm asked to sign as a contributor?
This is an agreement between you the seller and Kid's Market and Mom, the organizers. It lets us know that you agree and understand the discount days, that you are aware of pick up and pay day, and that you do not hold Kid's Market and Mom liable. It must be signed only once, but for each and every sale.
Are there any limits on what I can bring?
Shoes - yes we ask that you bring your three best pairs. Shoes can run in size from newborn to adult sizes. If you have shoes that are in excellent condition find someone in charge at receiving and you may be allowed to have more than three.
Bags of miscellaneous toys - yes we are now asking that you limit grab bags to (3) and to items such as Barbie Clothes, Match Box Cars, baby rattles, etc. NO GRAB BAGS OF JUNK will be accepted. Please donate Kid's Meals toys to your favorite charity.
Clothes - Please limit maternity , big boys (18-20) and juniors to 10 pieces. However, in tagging your items remember quality counts. If you wouldn't buy it, chances are no one else will either. Help keep up the quality of our sale. "If in doubt leave it out" .
Why Card Stock?
Paper tags are not strong enough to withstand all the shifting and moving the clothes go through during a sale. If you use paper tags it is not our responsibility for lost tags.
Red Tags
If you do use red tags please realize that they do not print in red just say red. This tells the computer NOT to mark them down on % off days. Remember RED remains it’s original price. One thing that puzzles us is why make a red donate tag? If you are going to donate your items your tags should be black. You have a better chance of getting something for your item.
Out of Date Car Seats
Car seat safety is a very serious issue that we are very concerned with. Therefore, if any car seat or stroller/car seat combo is out of date Kid’s Market will dispose of your item immediately without notice to the contributor. You as the seller will not receive your item back and will lose the sale of that item.
Recalled Items
Another safety concern of Kid’s Market. You as the seller are responsible to find out if your item is under recall. If you bring an item, be it a toy or equipment, that has been recalled it will be disposed of immediately without notice and you will lose the sale of your item and profit.
What Is Early Receiving?
Early receiving is a few days that you have to make an appointment to bring your items to us. We do not sign contracts or give #’s to come back and shop. It is a time to bring large quantities, large toys and furniture. There are only 3 people scheduled every 15 minutes, so there are not many people there and we can help a little more than we could during regular receiving. If you plan to come early on Saturday morning it helps to already have your items dropped off. You still have to stand in line with all the others contributors, but you don’t have to drag your stuff around in the long line. So if you have your items ready go ahead and make an appointment.
YES you can still bring large quantities, large furniture and toys during regular receiving.
Can't Remember My Contributor ID
Please DO NOT sign up again!!!! Get in touch with any of us and we will gladly look it up. You can email us support@kidsmarketandmom.com or info@kidsmarketandmom.com . Signing up more than once causes a lot of problems and extra postage when we mail the flyer.
CD's and DVD's
Must be in their original case. We will no longer accept movies out of cases. Do not bring defective tapes and disc.
How Can I Volunteer To Be a Worker
No referral needed, please read the Workers Info on website before you contact Kim. We always need help. Remember it’s volunteer not a paid position.
